So, I hope everyone have finished watching the mind blowing Season 3 of the German Sci-Fi Series DARK. So, in this post I would try to explain the Science behind DARK Season 3 and also some the lingering questions that DARK Season 3 left us with.
1. Multiple Realities:-
In the first four episodes of Dark S3 we meet Jonas and alt-Martha and see how their worlds are intertwined. There are two scenarios shown and they both overlap-
In the first scenario, we are shown that alt Martha takes Jonas to their world, where a similar apocalypse is scheduled to happen. Then alt Martha vanishes - we don't know where. Later it is shown alt Martha went back to 1888 in Jonas' world to meet Stranger Jonas and give him the material to make the God Particle (aka Adam's Advanced Time Machine). But Stranger Jonas says he never went to her world.
In the alt World, on the other hand Teen Jonas is killed by alt Martha 2.0 in front of alt Martha, in Eve's Palace.
Finally, we are shown that Magnus and Franziska brought alt Martha from alt world to Jonas' World to save Jonas with two outcomes-
1. In which Jonas gets saved by alt Martha - This leads to Jonas travelling to the alt world, making alt Martha pregnant and thus beginning the cycle. This alt Martha comes back to Adam and is captured so that the child can be killed and chain can be broken
2. In which Jonas gets saved by running into the basement of the house. alt Martha is interrupted by alt Bartosz and taken to Eve. Eve brainwashes this alt Martha - to protect her child, and this alt Martha becomes Martha 2.0 and kills Teen Jonas.
Now, this becomes confusing because both the events happen simultaneously.
So, we are left wondering - how the hell can this happen?
This is explained by the concept of Quantum Entanglement.
In Quantum Theory, Quantum Entanglement is a concept, according to which one particle can simultaneously exist in the same state with same properties, but at two different points.
They have explained , since in these two Universes (belonging to Jonas and Martha) the times flow in a continuous loop, connected by a knot (as shown by the Infinity Symbol), this concept can be extrapolated to the macrocosmos. Thus Multiple Realities can coexist without threatening the existence of the other. And, that is why this loop cannot be broken.
This can be further explained if I show it diagrammatically-
Thus - EVERYTHING IS CONNECTED.....
2. The Real Origin-
These two Universes are inherently faulted - as said by Claudia and should not have existed in the first place. In a Natural Universe, Everything Is Linear - Time flows unidirectionally, and so does the Gene Pool. So, How did this Universe Originate?:-
In 1986, H G Tannhaus, who was in reality a Quantum Physicist, wanted to bring back his Dead Son, Daughter In Law, and Granddaughter back from the dead, by reverting time and preventing them from dying in the accident.
In doing so, he played with the fundamental laws of nature- thus nature got divided into two parallel universes connected in a knot.
It can be explained by the following diagram-
So, they prevented this never ending loop to occur, by travelling to the Original World, and saving Tannhaus' son from dying.
THUS, THE OLD MAN WAS SUCCESSFUL IN BRINGING HIS CHILD BACK FROM THE DEAD, WITHOUT EVEN KNOWING HIMSELF
3. The Final Supper Scene:-
So, who lives in the Original World-
Hannah and Katharina - not enemies but as friends, because Ulrich is not there. (Ulrich's Grandpa is Adam and Eve's Son)
Woller lives, and his sister too- because they are not connected to the loop.
So Lives Peter Doppler.
Regina is alive and well- no Boris in sight, because she never met Boris (bullying by Ulrich was not present only- moreover she stays out of the loop because she is Bernd's son (Yes, the old man gave young Claudia money for that reason only) and not Tronte's)
But, in their subconscious, especially Hannah's - The Looped Universes are alive and well.
4. The True ADAM and EVE:-
According to the showrunners, in the lineage Jonas and Martha begin the genetic loop and hence are ADAM and EVE.
Here, I differ.
I think the true Adam and Eve of the show in terms of genetic pool should be Bartosz and Silija.
Bartosz is the Son of Regina and Boris - both belong outside the genetic loop
Silija is the daughter of Egon and Hannah- and though born due to time travel, she too remains outside the genetic loop, as Egon and Hannah themselves are not part of the loop.
Since, their genes are uniquely outside the loop - hence, truly they are the real Genetic Adam and Eve of the show, from their genes only the loop originates, in the same way the Time loop originated from the origin world.
5. Genetics of DARK, especially Elisabeth and Charlotte- My Explanation:-
The whole thing is a big mess, because this is not possible in the real world. This was my explanation after watching Dark Season 2. The showrunners have showed this - yes this thing is not possible in the real world, because time flow linearly, and there is no such BIG GENETIC LOOP (With a Lot of Incests) in the Real World,
As of the Jonas and Martha Worlds, they can happily exist, since, No Law of Nature is linear there - so Genetics should also be in a loop. This is the reason why such universes are doomed....
